Presidents Statement (2002-2003)

As this will be my last message to you as President of the club, I would like to thank you sincerely for giving me the chance to serve you. I have tried my best to put the interest of the Club foremost in my actions. If in my eagerness to get things done, I may have overlooked some of your interest or where our views differ, I ask your forgiveness.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to my fellow Executive Committee, as well as, Singapore Mission, Singapore International Foundation, Contact Singapore, Singapore Tourism Board and Singapore Airlines for their continual support to the club. Without them the Club would not have accomplished what we had set out to do.

On behalf of the Executive Committee, I would also like to thank once again all the members for their unfailing support and participation over the past 3 years. We appreciate your understanding and confidence in us.

The Club is now stabilized and the new leadership would be able to sail forth and make new discoveries to enhance the Spirit of Singapore. I wish you all the best and I will see you in the near future.

President's Statement (2001-2002)

It was just four years ago when I was approached to stand for election for the post of President of a Singapore Club in Switzerland. On the first two occasions I declined the invitation on the grounds that I did not have any experience in running a club. Furthermore, there had been negative remarks about past setup. Some members suggested to overcome the problems is forming a new Executive Committee.

After much soul searching, I agreed to take the challenge to reform the whole structure of the club including creating a new name - Temasek Club.

From the very start, the Executive Committee worked not only very hard, but also cohesively as a team. I hereby wish to thank the EX-CO for their outstanding contributions.

It is now my honour and privilege to bring to your attention, the achievements and new services we have effected the club, these are not in any chronological order, namely:

Temasek Club Website
Being part of our aim to promote the club as a communication hub. Members can now conveniently get information about integrating into Switzerland or news on the developments in Singapore. The club is also reciprocally linked to Ministry of Information and the Arts; Swiss Business Association; World Radio Geneva; City Expat and other Overseas Singapore Clubs.

Temasek Club Funds
We have received some donations, about chf 500 from Contact Singapore and about chf 1,800 from Singapore International Foundation. These funds shall be used wisely to administer the club events and promoting the spirits of Singapore.

Singapore Tourism Board
After they ceased its Zurich office, the club had a gentlemen agreement to help in promoting Singapore as a business/tourist spot in Switzerland. Likewise, STB would sponsor some of the club events, but, on a case by case basis.

Club Events
Turning to our social programme, I am very pleased that we had such a good attendance in the first few events. Subsequent events were a little dry and disappointing. Nevertheless, all suggestions and feedback would be welcome.

Whilst looking ahead, I believe our social events later this year will be more interesting and attractive. The club will continue to promote the spirit of Singapore both vertically and horizontally. So dont just remain seated and belted! Lets Do It Together.
